Thank you for expanding Berryessa Snow Mountain National Monument and protecting Molok Luyuk! We are celebrating the protection of this landscape that is sacred to the Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation, helps ensure access to the outdoors, and is critically important to conserve in the face of a changing climate.
Molok Luyuk includes rolling hills, rocky outcroppings, meadows of wildflowers, and the world’s largest stand of McNab cypress. It serves as a critical wildlife corridor between the existing monument and other protected areas for species such as tule elk, mountain lions, and black bears. It also protects critically important biodiversity and is home to over 30 species of rare plants.
Northern California Tribes, local elected officials and businesses, neighboring landowners, and over 300 scientists supported this expansion. Over 175,000 supporters signed petitions urging you to use the Antiquities Act to expand the monument.
